About Us

Our Beliefs

We believe that coffee can be more than it currently is in many establishments - hot dark water that tastes so bad it NEEDS to be loaded with sugars and syrups to be consumed. Don't get me wrong, milks and sugar can enhance a coffee, and everyone has their preference. At Expedition Coffee Roasters we aim to show people that coffee can taste great on it's own.

We roast on Canada's only all-electric Probat P05e, meaning we are a zero-emissions roastery. No natural gas, or propane... just clean heat to roast your beans to perfection.

Aaron never really enjoyed the coffees that were available in Canada… and then he moved to Australia in 2012 and quickly realized that “coffee could taste good.”

Over the nearly five years he spent in Australia, Aaron learned as much as he could about coffee roasting, sensory development, brew methods, and a bit about latte art (to this day, Aaron still makes a mean cloud / blob design when he pours a latte).

Aaron attended the Wolff College of Coffee in Hendra (Brisbane), Queensland and is grateful to consider Peter Wolff (owner of Wolff Coffee Roasters) and Willy Goh (owner of Mighty Wonders Coffee) his friends and coffee mentors. Once arriving back in Canada in 2017, Aaron set about on his coffee journey and registered the business. In 2020, things got more serious when he bought a small sample roaster… a Probat Electric Sample Roaster, capable of roasting 200g per batch. His neighbours and friends enjoyed the roasting trials… wonderful aromas and delicious coffees right next door. In 2021, Aaron and his family moved to Nova Scotia, and he set out to find a location. In late 2022, a space in Falmouth, NS was leased and the renovations began. Aaron still uses his 200g sample roaster, but has installed his new Probat P5e... the first all-electric Probat 5kg roaster in Canada. This means that he has no carbon emissions at the roastery and his roasting is the most efficient and clean.
